Scott River Watershed conditions continue to impress as spring progresses. See the weekly Watershed report for May 7 here. The May 1 snowpack surveys show 168% for snow water equivalent. According to the California Department of Water Resources, the Scott River runoff forecast for April through July 2023 is 116% of average.
Governor Newsom’s “drought emergency” proclamation must be lifted for Scott Valley. Our farmers and ranchers are still being forced to give up 30% of their groundwater use this irrigation season, with no compensation.
